    I thought this was an excellent submission. I like the simple invocation that govts should be wholesalers rather than retailers of information (and recounted it to Mark Scott when I met him at the ABC last Thursday. I think Govt agencies need to be retailers in some circumstances. They need to be retailers where noone else will go retailer because the market is too thin. And they may want to go retailer if they want to promote a particular retail image (as the ABC does.) But, at least until I’m otherwise persuaded, I think they should also ensure that they are doing everything they can to facilitate others who want to use their wholesale feeds at marginal cost (which will be essentially zero) and retail the same material in other ways (or indeed the same way if they wish).
